Glossary

The words that show up in Glimz answers, each explained in a sentence or two.

Tokens and contracts

Blacklist

A contract function that can block specific wallets from moving or selling the token.

Contract owner

On EVM chains, an address with special powers over a token's contract, such as changing taxes or pausing transfers. A contract can also have no owner.

Freeze authority

On Solana, the right to freeze holders' token accounts so the tokens can't be moved. While it is active, someone can lock your tokens in place.

Honeypot

A token you can buy but can't sell, or can only sell at a huge loss. Glimz checks for this with a test sale.

Mint authority

On Solana, the right to create new tokens. While it is active, the supply can grow and dilute holders.

Proxy contract

A contract whose code can be swapped for new code later. The token you checked today may not behave the same way tomorrow.

Sell tax

A cut the token's contract takes from every sale. Some contracts also tax buys or transfers.

Token-2022

Solana's newer token program. It supports optional extensions, such as transfer fees or a permanent delegate that can move tokens, which can give someone extra control.

Pools and trading

Aggregator

A service that searches many pools for the best price for a trade. Glimz uses Jupiter (Solana) and KyberSwap (EVM chains) for sell quotes, and to route the trades you sign on Solana and Base.

DEX

A decentralized exchange: a place where tokens are traded against pools of liquidity instead of an order book run by a company.

FDV

Fully diluted value: the price times the total supply, including tokens not in circulation yet.

Liquidity

The money sitting in a pool that trades happen against. More liquidity means each trade moves the price less.

LP tokens

Receipts for liquidity added to a pool. Whoever holds them can withdraw that liquidity.

LP lock

LP tokens placed in a locker until a date, or burned, so the liquidity can't be pulled before then.

Market cap

The price times the circulating supply.

Price impact

How much your own trade moves the price. A large price impact on a small sale means the pool is thin and getting out will cost you.

Slippage

How far the price may move against you between the quote and the trade. Glimz lets you set a maximum (0.5%, 1%, 3% or 5%); past it, the swap fails instead of filling at a worse price.

Token approval

On EVM chains, permission for a contract to spend a token from your wallet. On Base, Glimz asks for exactly the trade amount, never unlimited.

Rug pull

When the people behind a token pull its liquidity or dump their holdings, leaving everyone else with tokens they can't sell for much.

Wallets and launches

Bundle

Several buys placed in the same block, usually right at launch, often by wallets one party controls. It can make the supply look spread out when it isn't.

Deployer

The wallet that created a token's contract or mint. Also called the creator.

Dev buy

What the deployer bought of their own token at launch.

Early buyer

A wallet that bought in the first blocks after launch. Bots and insiders are often among them.

Holder concentration

How much of the supply the largest holders own. Pools and locks are usually set aside, because they aren't people.

Insider

A wallet that bought with an advantage, such as before the token was public, or because it is connected to the team.
